Innumerable are the works of art inspired by the鈥疌ommedia鈥痶hat hybridize Dante鈥檚 journey with the artist's own.鈥疍ante鈥檚 Pilgrim has never, in fact, been everyone鈥檚 鈥渆veryman.鈥濃鼳nd rightly so.鈥齌his presentation introduces three contemporary artists鈥擬aru Ceballos (Buenos Aires), Kat Mustatea (NYC), and Kazumasa Chiba (Tokyo)鈥攚ho engage Dante鈥檚 itinerary in striking and radically different ways.鈥疶heir imagery is not easy to view.鈥齌heir explorations of environmental disaster, societal degradation, pain, and a global pandemic are disturbing, yet important viewing for Italianists working today, as we continue to point to the transformative gifts literature offers the world.鈥疢ay we all be as courageous to move through difficult times as Dante and these artists have.鈥
