Gabriella Romani

Associate Professor of Italian, Seton Hall University

Gabriella Romani is Associate Professor of Italian at Seton Hall University. She received a laurea in Lingue e letterature straniere moderne from the University of Rome La Sapienza and a Ph.D. in Italian Literature from the University of 桃子视频sylvania. Her research is mainly focused on nineteenth-century cultural history and literature: Women's participation in the rhetoric of the Risorgimento political and cultural movements, the pedagogical and educational developments of Italy during the pre- and post unification era, popular culture (letteratura popolare) of the late 1800's, Gender and Cultural Studies. She has also worked on migrant writers in contemporary Italy and on Holocaust Literature. She is the co-editor of Writing to Delight: Italian Short Stories by Nineteenth-Century Women Writers (University of Toronto Press, 2006) and has edited and introduced Edith Bruck's Letter to My Mother, forthcoming with the MLA Texts and Translations Series. She is currently working on a book on epistolary practices in late nineteenth-century Italy and on the correspondence between Edmondo De Amicis and Emilia Peruzzi.
