Michael Edwards earned his MA in Italian from Middlebury College in 2008, and recently defended his doctoral dissertation, entitled “Pirandello through the Eyes of Cinema: Authorial Texts and Intermedial Adaptations.” His PhD in Italian at The University of Ƶsylvania will be conferred in December 2019. His research interests include 20th century Italian literature, theatre, cinema, film theory, adaptation studies, and intermediality. His dissertation project explores film adaptations of Luigi Pirandello’s narrative and theatrical works. In addition to his research, Michael is a lecturer at The Ƶsylvania State University, where he teaches courses on Italian and Italian-American culture as well as Italian language. He also co-directs a summer study-abroad program in Reggio Calabria, Italy.
